On this adventure you will…
Board your transportation and journey for 20 minutes with your small group beside the shore of Port Frederick. Lookout for seabirds feeding in the nutrient-rich waters along the way.
Make a 20-minute stop at the ferry terminal to scope the surrounding area for pigeon guillemots, gulls, ducks and other seabirds.
Drive 10 minutes to an active bald eagle’s nest for a brief stop.
Next, head to the Long Island Causeway, where you’ll have 45 minutes to scan for shorebirds, ducks, eagles, crows, ravens, cormorants and more.
Then follow your guide down a trail for a one-hour and fifteen-minute walk through mixed forest and grasslands to find a wealth of passerines. Along the trail you may encounter warblers, sparrows, flycatchers, jays, woodpeckers, sapsuckers, wrens, kinglets, swallows, swifts, hummingbirds, creepers, chickadees and thrushes.

On this adventure you will…
Take a short walk from the pier to the Crab House where you will meet your licensed captain and board the fishing boat. Located far from any cities, the area waters are teeming with halibut, creating ideal angling conditions. There is a maximum of 6 guests per boat and every fisherman is in control of his or her own pole and tackle. Note: Your catch may not be brought back on board your cruise ship as this is a catch and release program.
Board your cabin cruiser and receive a quick safety briefing from your friendly crew. Then voyage out to one of Icy Strait's hottest fishing spots for 2.5 hours of amazing angling. On this adventure you will…
Take a short walk from your ship, where you’ll board your transportation and drive through the village of Hoonah, the largest Tlingit village in the world, on your way to the Spasski River Valley.
On arrival, hike approximately 2 miles through private Native-owned lands, up an abandoned logging trail to a secluded viewing area. As you come to the top of the mountain, feel the serenity and take in the breathtaking 360-degree views of Chichagof Island and its surrounding waterways and islands. With nothing but nature around you, your local guide will share knowledge of the flora and fauna that inhabit the area, including some history of the land and its rich diverse culture.
Be sure to bring your camera and binoculars, as coastal brown bears, Sitka black tailed deer, eagles and even humpback whales abound here. With very little time spent in the forest area, this tour provides spectacular views of the area with ample opportunities for photography.
