HomePort Information

  • Disney Cruise Line Ground Transfers

    • All options are based on hotel/airport you stay at & port you sail from

    • Overall my thoughts are PRICELESS AND SEAMLESS I would highly recommend this service

    • Boarding groups tend to be 2 - 6 when using ground transportation by DCL

    • Must be booked 3 days before sailing at least (ground transfers)

    • Can be cancelled up to 7 days before the sailing for a refund

  • How do I justify the price for ground transfers? Important To Read

    • Save money by eating lunch on the ship instead of locally while getting on the ship with a later boarding group

    • Luggage once picked up show up in your stateroom

    • Looking at the cost of your cruise on the per hour basis and for example you get on the ship at 11:30 am instead of 1:30 pm

      • The hourly cost for an Oceanview room is on average $57 for 3 Night, $47 for 4 Night, $35 for 5 Night and $40 for 7 Night

      • Therefore getting on the ship earlier using Ground Transfer basically pays for itself

    • Need to see cost comparison to private vehicle when have a large family and lots luggage

    • Issue is the benefit of early port arrival time and boarding group using DCL ground transfer

    • Another idea is to use a local hotel that offers free shuttles to and from the airport

      • Hotel would be cheaper than MCO Hyatt

      • Take the shuttle back and use DCL ground transfer

      • Negative is you must move all your luggage back and forth

    • Look at Costco Travel for car rental costs

    • Need to book DCL ground transfer at least 3 days before sailing

Top Reasons To Use Disney Cruise Line Ground Transportation

  • Pick up bags from hotel room (might not be at all hotels)

  • Disney movie played in route to port

  • Only stop at Disney Cruise Line port

  • Nice large coach buses with Bathroom

  • Travel with Disney minded people

  • Port Check-in time assigned very early (Group 3 11 am) or typically port check-in time does not matter when you use them (you basically get right through the port and wait minimal time to board ship)

  • Seamless and honestly priceless

  • I used this one time and have never looked back

  • Buses ready once you are off the ship

  • Very easy to find the bus when need them

      • Silver Castaway Club Guests at 9:30 AM (EST)

      • All other Guests from 9:45 AM (EST) – 10:15 AM (EST)

  • Typical boarding group with DCL transportation is Group 3, therefore you will have time at the port before you get onto the ship

    • Take some pictures and enjoy the time and DOWNLOAD the APP

  • Some of the above information can change based on the number of transfers:

    • Less than 50 transfers might only have 1 to 2 shuttles run

    • Over 500 transfers might have 12 shuttles running back to back to back

  • Once at the airport, collect your luggage from baggage claim, then proceed to Side B, Level 1 – Ground Transportation, to board your motor coach.

    • Wake up get in line then go get breakfast

    • They pick up luggage in hotel room and it shows up in your stateroom

    • Get on first bus and on the ship by 11:30 am so save on lunch because you eat it on the ship

      • Less line for food places on the ship

  • Disney transfer from Walt Disney World Hotels

    • DCL ambassador will meet you at a certain location in the hotel in the morning

    • They will group you all together and check your identification, and boarding paperwork

    • And will take you all out together to board the bus

    • Charter bus with televisions and watch Disney movies or play Disney music but not all buses have them

    • Pick up around 9:45 am ish and will stop at other WDW Hotels

  • If you transfer from Disney World, your luggage will be picked up on the morning of your cruise and transferred to the ship

You’ll only have to keep track of your carry-on bag during boarding, and your luggage will be delivered directly to your stateroom

You may be sharing your motorcoach with cruisers from multiple hotels

That could mean a few different pick-up (or drop-off) stops

You also won’t have much control over your port arrival time, as Disney does not usually do more than one pick-up from each resort.

  • Snooze and cruise package

Common trick is to book a hotel near the airport that has a free shuttle and then use your cruise line’s airport-to-port transfer

Mears, Happy Limo, and Florida Magical Tours private shuttles or transfers

    GoPort Package

One reservation covers pre and post cruise lodging and transportation

    Fly-snooze-cruise

Transportation from the airport to the hotel, the hotel stay, and transportation from the hotel to the port

    Park-snooze-cruise

Port parking in GoPort’s private lot, and the hotel reservation. Or, you see that I could reserve just the parking in GoPort’s private lot, or just the shuttle transportation

  • Guests arriving in Vancouver from the United States and international destinations will proceed through the Canadian Border Services Agency Immigration inspection before heading to baggage claim. Claim your luggage and exit baggage claim via Customs, where you will turn in your Customs Declaration Form. A Disney Cruise Line representative will be waiting for you outside of Customs—or if you are arriving domestically, near baggage claim.

We’re sailing on the Disney Wonder into and out of Vancouver. When we disembark, we have a flight home at 11pm. Is there somewhere at the port to store our luggage or is there a way to get it to the airport so we can explore the city unencumbered?

  • Your cruise will sail from the Canada Place Cruise Terminal. If you do a quick google search, you will see there is a luggage storage right in the terminal so you can drop your bags and explore. Just make sure to be back to the port to collect your bags and get to the airport on time for your flight!

  • Since we are chatting about luggage, be prepared when packing before you leave home! Weather can change day to day in Alaska, and even throughout the day. I suggest packing clothes that can be layered. I usually wore a hoodie or sweatshirt with a coat over it on cooler days. On warmer days, a long sleeve T-shirt might do the trick, but always have a sweatshirt and rain gear handy (bring a backpack to take on Port Adventures to store your extra clothes). Also take care when packing shoes, being mindful of your planned excursions. Plan if you need hiking boots, walking shoes, etc. You will also want some shoes for around the ship, so shoes will take up a good part of your luggage for sure!

Port Miami

EB Hotel Miami

EB Hotel and Review

  • Upon arrival at the EB Miami Hotel, you should be given information regarding the time that you will be picked up for your trip to the port. The time is often around 10:00 a.m. but it can differ based on the number of people that will be traveling and the type of transportation used. If you check in to the hotel and do not have the information that you need, please call DCL for assistance.

  • Heated pool

  • Breakfast served in restaurant and certain packages include it but not when booking through Disney

  • Room ready before 3 pm

  • Airport shuttle is free but we waited about 35 minutes for it to show up after calling

  • Hotel is 5 minutes from airport

  • Pool towels are at the front desk

  • Not much to walk to from the hotel if you have no car

  • Morning of transportation

  • Disney transportation check in between 4 and 6 pm the day before the cruise

  • Day of cruise meet in lobby 10 – 10:30 am

  • Both buses left at the same time

  • 20 minutes to port

  • To the port you leave your bags in the hotel room

  • Buses left around 11 am or once the bags and people are loaded

  • Buses have both televisions and bathrooms

  • Very odd but you have to grab your bags off the bus and need to give them to the porters

  • This book some time to be honest

  • Much traffic along the route

  • We got to the port way after our 11:15 am boarding time and they were already calling group 8

  • The Disney transfer line to get through the port is a different entrance and seemed to be a shorter line also than the main entrance

  • If we repeat this port need to weigh the late arrival time versus not using Disney transfer

FAQs

  • Speaking of no worries, securing Disney ground transfers helps to take some of the guesswork out of your arrival and insures a smooth trip to the ship. Once you arrive at Orlando International Airport, take the train to the Main Terminal, and proceed to Level 2/Baggage Claim area to claim your luggage. In addition to your luggage, you will also find a Disney Cruise Line airport representative who will escort you to members of the Luggage Assistance Team who will whisk your luggage away and it will magically appear at your stateroom after you have boarded.

Before you drop off your luggage, I recommend that you place anything you may need as soon as you board the ship in your carry-on bag since your luggage will not arrive at your stateroom until sometime after you board. I always include the basics like sunscreen and a water bottle. If you would like to take a dip in the pool, toss in your bathing suit, but leave your towels at home since they are provided. Remember to pack any medications, valuables, and your cruise documents and identification in your carry-on.

Once you drop off your luggage, you will proceed to the Disney Cruise Line check-in location in Terminal B/Level 1. When you check-in, a Cast Member will be able to let you know approximately when you will depart for the Cruise Terminal based on a couple of factors, one being your scheduled Port Arrival time. Departures from the airport are between 9:20 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and vary based on how many Guests will be arriving at the airport at various times. While you may not be able to arrive at the port much ahead of your scheduled time, the Cast Member will be able to assist you with an appropriate departure time.

  • Once you have disembarked the ship you will grab all bags before customs

    Continue on thru customs

Continue to designated buses with your bags

Board the bus and enjoy the ride

Once you put your luggage out the night before debarkation, you will reclaim it in the holding area just before going through Customs. You will then take your bags with you to the motorcoach bound for Orlando International Airport. Upon arrival at the airport, Guests are expected to take their luggage to their airline for transfer. In other words, Disney Cruise Line assumes no responsibility in transferring your luggage to your airline for you. Back in the day, there was a program that allowed for checking bags all the way through to the airport, but that isn’t offered anymore.

If you do not want to have the pressure of packing your luggage and leaving it out the night before, you can always take your bags to breakfast the next morning and disembark the ship with them if you prefer (or head back to your stateroom to grab them before leaving the ship).

  • The day before embarkation, you’ll receive a letter from the resort detailing your motorcoach departure time and meeting location. If you don’t hear something by late afternoon, I’d stop by the front desk at the resort and talk to a Cast Member. They will be able to track down the information for you.

Motorcoach transportation begins at approximately 8:30 a.m. The exact time is based on how many people need to be picked up. Bell Services will start collecting luggage in the morning – don’t forget to attach your Disney Cruise Line Luggage Tags. The next time you see your bags will be in your stateroom. My family likes to pack our swimsuits in our carry-on bags so that we can enjoy an uncrowded pool after lunch on the ship. Don’t forget to keep your photo IDs, proof of citizenship, and any medications you might need with you as well.

Once you have this transportation reservation secured, here’s how it should work for you next year when the magical day arrives. You will receive a digital letter via email 48 hours prior to embarkation detailing your location and time of pick-up at your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. This communication will also detail the process for Bell Services to pick up your luggage early that morning, typically around 8:00 A.M. The busses to Port Canaveral are specifically scheduled to pick up Guests like you, so the exact timing is not known until that final communication. You can expect pick-up around mid-morning. You do not need to select a Port Arrival Time (PAT) during the Online Check-In process 30 days prior to sailing as Disney is now managing your port arrival through this ground transportation. The bus may stop at other resorts before heading to your beautiful coastal destination of Port Canaveral.

I love this ride to the port because you can relax and know Disney is taking care of everything! The drive is approximately 60-90 minutes depending on traffic and weather, so you can anticipate a mid-day to early afternoon arrival. Rest assured, embarkation officially begins around 1:00 P.M. so you will arrive with plenty of time to board, explore the ship, enjoy a meal or snack, and be ready for the fun sail away activities by late afternoon.
