Strumming the Seas With a Disney Cruise Line Guitarist

Read along for a Q&A with one of the talented musicians you can find at sea providing live performances across themed lounges, immersive restaurants and immaculate atriums. Meet Letz, a guitarist currently on the Disney Wonder who has built a career making magic as an onboard musician.
First off, what helped you get to where you are today with Disney?
“Early experiences playing guitar and singing in Brazil helped me develop my musical skills and stage presence. Later, working as a musician on cruise ships provided valuable experience performing in diverse settings and interacting with guests. These experiences prepared me for the demands of entertaining and engaging audiences at Disney.”
What inspires your passion for performing?
“Performing allows me to express myself creatively and connect with audiences on an emotional level. Whether it's through music or storytelling, the ability to evoke emotions and create memorable experiences for people is what drives my passion for performing. My favorite part of my role is the opportunity to connect with people from all parts of the world with my art and expression. I’m happy I got this far, I have a dream job!”

What’s it like working onboard a cruise ship?
“The work environment onboard Disney Cruise Line is dynamic, fast-paced, and filled with opportunities for creativity and collaboration, I play solo but it’s amazing to connect with the bartenders and fellow crew members along the way. Disney treats the crew with amazing care and responsibility, as a musician I feel respected and empowered to go further. My favorite part of working with my fellow cast members is the sense of camaraderie and teamwork. We support each other both on and off stage, and we become a big and diverse family, cultivating friendship for a lifetime.”
Tell us about a day in the life!
“A typical day onboard involves rehearsals, listening to new music and creating new arrangements for my performances. As I usually perform during the night, I have free time to be creative during the day and explore new things to put to work. I’m always refining musical skills, rehearsing repertoire, and ensuring I'm physically and mentally prepared for the demands of shipboard life. This might include practicing vocal exercises, learning new songs, and studying repertoire to ensure I can deliver top-notch performances.”
What has surprised you most about working with Disney Cruise Line?
“One thing that has surprised me most about working at Disney is the level of attention to detail and dedication to guest satisfaction. Disney goes above and beyond to ensure every aspect of the guest experience is memorable, and it's inspiring to be part of that commitment to excellence.”
