On this adventure you will…
Board a bus for the one-hour and 45-minute drive to San Luis Park.
Begin your 90-minute adventure with a short downhill walk that leads into an open hummingbird garden. Observe many species of the tiny, lively and colorful birds gathering. They will amaze you with their spectacular, aerial maneuvers.
Walk to the first of 4 suspended bridges stretching over a half-mile above the ground. Enjoy the most amazing bird’s eye view of the cloud forest. Each bridge stretches 95-253 feet long and as much as 126 feet above the ground.
Continue through rivers and cascades treated to spectacular vistas while the naturalist guide points out the several species of birds, butterflies and small mammals that inhabit the misty area. Take the opportunity to observe lovely plants such as orchids, heliconia, ferns, bromeliads and other aerial species.
Visit a nearby butterfly farm encountering such butterfly species as the blue morpho, caligo and monarch.
After finishing the walk, you’ll have 60 minutes to taste a delicious ‘agua dulce’ (a traditional drink) with a typical hearty Costa Rican lunch.
On the return drive, take a 25-minute stop at El Jardin to browse the souvenir shop or admire the spectacular garden.
Reboard the bus for the hour-long ride back to the pier.

Board a bus and travel one hour through the mid-Pacific to the Carara National Park, a low mountainous area of 4,700 hectares stretching from the dry north to the very humid South Pacific coast.
Arrive at the park, where you will have 90 minutes to experience the area, starting at a footpath specially designed to make an easy walk into the forest. The Carara National Park features animal sculptures and 3-dimensional maps, as well as resting areas, information booths and Braille signs. The park is also home to over 110 species of birds, including the endangered scarlet macaw, as well as anhinga “water turkeys,” surgeon ducks, pied-billed grebes, yellow-billed cotingas, laughing falcons and 3 different species of herons. You may also encounter several species of monkeys, reptiles and amphibians.
Next, transfer 20 minutes to Pura Vida Gardens and Waterfalls for a one-hour guided walk. A true masterpiece, the destination features 50 acres of spectacular flora and fauna and was named the #1 garden in Latin America by the Integrated Conservation Research Group.
After your nature walk, savor a delicious lunch at Pura Vida’s main restaurant.

The farm is comprised of 640 acres of prime plantation land, where the secrets of an ideal cup are carefully cultivated.
During your 80-minute visit, follow your guide through the fields and processing plant. Start at nursery, where crops are featured in all stages. Watch workers sweep the coffee as it lies under the sun, its parchment still attached to ensure even drying.

Board your transportation and travel 45 minutes to your starting point.
Receive safety instructions and gear from your guide. Then start your 3-hour bike ride.
Ride your bike on a flat paved road to the intersection of Baja Mar, enjoying beautiful landscapes surrounded by cattle ranches and a small wetland area, where you may see water birds such as egrets and herons. At the end of the paved road, pedal a little harder and ride a short distance uphill to a gravel road. At this intersection, you’ll experience rolling hills and a moderate downhill until crossing the Baja Mar Lagoon.
Make stops to photograph the flora and fauna and listen to your guides as they point out areas of interest. This is also a great opportunity to drink fluids and recharge. Complimentary fruit, bottled water and hydrating drinks are included in this excursion.

Board the boat and set off on a 90-minute scenic river adventure. The protected Guacalillo Estuary is noted for its mangroves. These woody plants grow along tropical coastlines, and 4 different species grow here-tea, black, red and white.
See crocodiles, mammals and some of the 250 species of birds that call the mouth of the Tárcoles River their home. The area is considered by birdwatchers to be one of the richest sites for sea birds and shorebirds, specifically during the migration months from October through April. Ospreys, gulls, cormorants, pelicans and frigate birds are among the most common species in the delta. The mangrove forest also acts as one of the most important habitats of the endangered scarlet macaw as well as many other endemic birds, including the cuckoo, mangrove hummingbird, vireo, Panama flycatcher, herons and egrets.
Witness one of the largest crocodile colonies in the world. Some of these prehistoric creatures are easily 10 feet long. Other reptiles that play an important role in this eco-rich river system include iguanas and Jesus Christ lizards.

Then take a short walk through the ranch's forest to the base of the canopy tour. This 2-hour adventure full of adrenaline consists of 11 horizontal traverses, with distances from 99 feet to 1155 feet long. It has 7 platforms and 6 decks.
Since the property lies next to the great Tárcoles River, wildlife sightings are common here. Begin with an introduction to the tropical forest through a 30-minute aerial tram ride, which will transport visitors to a high elevation.
Receive a safety briefing and walk to your first zip line platform. Throughout the zip line experience, Guests will fly above the ground, using an intricate system of twin cables and double pulleys. Soar across magnificent creeks and small waterfalls, enjoying parallel views of Costa Rica’s mid-pacific coast. Swing through the tropical forest using 15 traverses-from 262 feet to 720 feet apart-covering 360-degree views of lush, green landscapes.
Enjoy a Costa Rican lunch (salad bar, yellow rice, black beans, grilled chicken, steamed vegetables, sweet plantain, tropical juices, iced tea and coffee) at the park in a dense, natural setting. You can also shop at Congo Souvenir Shop before continuing with your adventure.
Visit the medicinal plant garden, the heliconia gallery and the Butterfly Garden, which complement a fascinating winding tour past a snake exhibit set in a tropical forest.
After your soaring experience through the forest, re-board your coach and relax during the trip back to the ship.

Board your bus and travel 30 minutes to Salinas, where you’ll board the newly restored cars of the historic Pacific Railroad. The railroad was once used to transport the country’s valuable coffee harvests from the highlands to the coastal ports.
Travel back in time and deep into Costa Rica’s culture on a 50-minute guided train ride through small towns and incredible rural and tropical scenery. Throughout the journey, large picture windows allow you to experience all the beauty of the Costa Rican countryside.
Arrive in the town of Ceiba, famous for its tropical mangoes and oranges. Here, you’ll board a motorcoach and travel 60 minutes to the Tárcoles River.
Upon your arrival to the boat station you’ll have 20 minutes to experience and purchase a delicious snack or a cold drink at "La Pulperia" which is a typical costarican grocery store before start your mangrove river boat adventure.
Cruise the river waters for 50 minutes during an Eco Tropical Mangrove Adventure. See four different species of mangroves. Costa Rica’s mangroves are teeming with exotic birds such as ospreys, gulls, cormorants, pelicans and frigate birds. The shores are home to one of the largest colonies of crocodiles. Some of these reptiles are easily 10-feet long. Iguanas, Jesus Christ lizards as well as many birds like herons, egrets, ducks, spoon bills and storks are easily seen looking for food along the river shore.
Travel 40-minutes to El Jardín Market, where you can browse for souvenirs, sample delicious tropical fruit or taste a cup of freshly brewed Costa Rican coffee while the beautiful sounds of the marimba music plays.
Reboard your motorcoach and travel 50 minutes back to the pier.
