Making the Disney Wish

  • Aired originally on December 24, 2022 at 9 pm on National Geographic Channel

  • Luckily I was able to record it on YouTube Tv

  • Coming to Disney plus on February 17, 2024

  • Notes from this amazing documentary

    • Grand Hall is 3 decks high

    • Ship was built separately in 100 blocks and then assembled

      • Last block was number 83 to join the ship

      • Look for that wooden ship in 1923

    • Worlds of Marvel

      • First-time full-on production for a show on DCL

      • Had to score music, Hollywood actors and imagery from DCL cruise ships

      • Had people in Germany, Florida, California and many more working on the production

    • Staterooms

      • Are built offsite and prefabricated and then brought to the ship yard to finish on the ship

      • A stateroom was installed every 15 minutes during this process

      • With having over 2000 staterooms (which includes guests and crew members), it was a Very important piece until the completion of the ship

      • Each room was placed on a conveyer belt and each room was built like the way a car is built

      • It takes about 12 hours from start to finish to complete a stateroom

    • Rapunzel on the back of the ship

      • Largest stern character to date

      • She is 9 feet tall

      • Including her hair she is 27 feet wide

      • Size 22 women shoe

      • Installation from left to right

      • Start off climbing 45 feet up

      • Claim to change the story back and forth on different days of the itinerary

      • Descending over 3 stories in 760 feet of tubing

    • February 11, 2022 first time the haul meets water

      • Floats out of the hall

      • Considered her birthday

      • Once she leaves the Hall she does not come back

      • Outside looks finished but a lot inside needs to be finished on this date

    • March 20, 2022

      • Leaves the nest and travels 23 miles up the EMS river to the North Sea all completed in reverse

    • The ship is like a small town

      • We generate our own energy

      • Make our own water

      • Treat our own sewage

      • All while moving around 20 knots

      • 7th cruise ship in the world to be fully running on liquefied natural gas (LNG)

        • Cleanest fuel

      • Test all the systems over 5 days at sea

      • Max 23 knots at full speed

      • Prepares to set sail across the Atlantic Ocean
