Dress Code Recommendation or Examples
Cruise casual suggests no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
Remember formal nights are an INVITATION to dress up and not a requirement
3-night cruises:
One cruise casual night—no swimwear or tank tops
One pirate night themed deck party
One optional “dress-up night”—jacket for men, dress, or pantsuit for women
4-night cruises:
First night is cruise casual—no swimwear or tank tops
One pirate night themed deck party
One optional dress-up night—jacket for men, dress, or pantsuit for women
Final night is cruise casual—no swimwear or tank tops
7-night cruises:
First night is cruise casual—no swimwear or tank tops
One pirate night or other themed deck party
3 additional cruise casual nights—no swimwear or tank tops
One formal and one semi-formal night gives guests the opportunity to dress up and take advantage of the onboard photography services. Though optional, DCL recommends dress pants with a jacket or a suit for men, and dress or pantsuit for women
Your 5-night Disney Cruise Line sailing does not have a "formal" formal night scheduled, but that shouldn't limit how you experience your evenings! You'll notice that cruise casual attire is the norm for most Guests on board, but there are many who choose to dress up, to varying degrees, for some or all of their dinners and evening entertainment. The great news is that this gives you some extra flexibility in packing and deciding what to experience and when while on board.
I know from my recent sailings that Guests tend to be a little dressier on the evening(s) they dine at certain rotational dining restaurants. For example, on the Disney Wonder, I would expect to see less dressy attire at Animator's Palate, given its fun and bubbly atmosphere. Triton's and Tiana's Place would be a more natural fit for classier attire. Since you'll be assigned to a specific dining rotation, the nights that you'll visit these restaurants won't be assigned until you're on board.

“Where are washers and dryers located on the Magic?”
You are just days away from your Disney Cruise aboard the Disney Magic! I'm guessing you are packing and thinking about what laundry you might need to do during your trip. The Disney Magic has three self-serve laundry facilities and they are located midship on Deck 2, 6, and 7. Specifically opposite stateroom 2096 on Deck 2, adjacent to stateroom 6588 on Deck 6, and opposite stateroom 7590 on Deck 7. You can access the deck plans for the Disney Magic in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once you are onboard the ship.
The laundry facilities are open 24 hours a day for your convenience. You are welcome to use the laundry services on any available floor, so if you find the machines full on one floor, try the others. I've had good luck finding open washers and dryers most often on Deck 2.
You'll use your Key To The World Card to charge for your laundry services. A Crew Member once gave me the tip that it is a good idea to load your clothing into the machine first, then tap your Key To The World Card to select your desired wash or dry cycle. This will prevent the machine from "timing out" while you load your clothing.
You are welcome to bring your own detergent, fabric softener, and dryer sheets, but if you'd rather save luggage space, you'll find detergent and fabric softener for purchase near the washers and dryers. The laundry facilities area also includes an iron and ironing board for your use.
Travel Debate: rolling or folding clothes or cubes
Rolling pros
Space saver
Easier to access clothes and see what is packed
Rolling is great for small items and can place in shoes or other objects packed that are empty
Rolling cons
Thicker or longer items will take up more space rolled
Will take a longer time than folding if items are already folded
Certain clothing items are harder to roll up
Typically, Formal wear does not roll up well
Folding pros
Folding clothes is quick
It’s an easy way to pack
Typically done this way at home therefore no need to re-fold
You can fold items along their existing creases
Folding cons
Clothes can form creases and wrinkle
Items like t-shirts and dresses are hard to fold wrinkle free
Takes up more space
Can leave gaps and not maximize space
When stacked hard to pull out or find one item
Hard to “live” out of suitcase
Packing cubes
Organize by each day
Compress your clothes
Easy to grab one thing and keep rest in drawers or suitcase
Can be expensive but re-usable
Helps if using a hard suitcase
