DCL and Bahamas Feeding Network to Bring Holiday Meals and Joy to Bahamian Families
Disney Cruise Line joined forces with a local non-profit organization, Bahamas Feeding Network, to spread magic throughout The Bahamas this holiday season. While the Disney Dream was docked in Nassau, Disney Cruise Line cast and crew members volunteered at the Bahamas Feeding Network to sort, organize and pack meal kits for local families to receive this month.
“School is getting ready to close for winter break, and we have families that depend on meals provided at school,” said Nicolette Archer, executive director, Bahamas Feeding Network. “Thanks to support from organizations, like Disney Cruise Line, many families in our community won’t have to worry where their next meal is coming from.”
“Being part of the Disney Cruise Line team, I get to create magic for families onboard the ship every day. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to create magic on land and help local families in The Bahamas during a time they need it most,” said Dolores Ayala, crew engagement manager, Disney Cruise Line.
In addition to packing meal kits with Bahamas Feeding Network volunteers, Disney Cruise Line recently donated $25,000 to the Bahamas Feeding Network to help contribute to the nutritional needs of the local community year-round.
Disney Cruise Line has supported Bahamas Feeding Network for several years. In November, during the Thanksgiving holiday, Disney Cruise Line collaborated with Bahamas Feeding Network to provide meals to families in need in Eleuthera, where Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point opened this summer.
Disney Cruise Line is committed to investing in programs that support local youth and creating lasting, positive impacts in the port communities it calls home.
