Castaway Club Benefits & Information

  • As of 12/20/23 DCL announced to remain in the Castaway Club program, members must book or sail on at least one eligible cruise within 5 years of their last Disney voyage. Castaway Club members who do not book or sail on an eligible sailing within the 5 year window will rejoin the program after completing one new eligible cruise. (I wonder if they rejoin at the previous level or at the bottom)

  • As far as my understanding DCL told me that once your CC status is inactivated due to the 5 year rule above, once you sail again that sailing you will sadly be treated as a new cruiser/first time cruiser but once that sailing is completed your old status would be reactivated meaning if you were GOLD you now are GOLD again.

  • The Activity Period shall mean the five (5) year period after debarkation day of the Member’s last eligible DCL Cruise. However, DCL may (but is not required to) extend the Activity Period and/or continue making Program Benefits available to Member if Member does not book or complete an eligible DCL cruise within their Activity Period; such decisions shall be in DCL’s sole discretion.

  • You are automatically enrolled in program once you have completed first Disney cruise

  • Four different levels in the Club

  • Platinum Castaway Club Member Gift via room service (Truffle Chocolate Box, Prosecco or Fruit Bowl)

  • You do receive complimentary dinner at Palo for Guests 18 and older sailing in the same stateroom. This is limited to one complimentary experience per stateroom and is subject to availability. I can understand your confusion with the introduction of a la carte menu selections for dinner. The prix fixe menu is included with your Platinum status. You’ll receive four courses from the menu. If you want to try the expanded a la carte options, you will receive a $45 credit to mix and match the dishes of your choice. The credited amount is subject to change, and I can’t be sure it will remain the same when you sail.  Another option is to choose the prix fixe menu and add just one or two a la carte options and pay for those separately. No matter your choice, I am confident you will not leave hungry.

  • Congratulations on becoming a Platinum Member of the Castaway Club! Welcome to a new tier of benefits that include early booking, discounts, gifts, and more! My favorite Platinum Member gift is a complimentary dinner at Palo or Palo Steakhouse. If you haven't made your reservation yet, you may inquire about availability on embarkation day.

There is a selection of complimentary gifts available to Platinum guests and the offerings are subject to change, but it is likely that you will receive a note on the first day with more details about items you may choose to have delivered from Room Service. I've heard recently that Platinum guests can choose from a selection of chocolate truffles, a fruit platter, or sparkling wine. If you don't receive a letter about these items, you may speak with Crew Members at the Guest Services Desk or call Room Service directly to inquire about your options.

I hope that your eleventh cruise is just as magical as the first ten! Congratulations again on your new membership benefits, and enjoy all of the memories that you have collected over the years. That's the best part of all!

Disney Cruise Itinerary Announcement

Here is a table that shows the history of when the Disney Cruise sailings were released from 2015 to current time frame. Disney Cruise Line typically announces new itineraries around 15 months in advance. Typically, new itineraries are announced about 15 months in advance. I’m crossing my fingers that we hear something by the end of July. In the meantime, I recommend checking the Disney Parks Blog for the latest updates. They will be the first to report when new dates are released.

First Look: Disney Cruise Line to Honor Families with Special Island Display

It has certainly been a shimmering summer celebrating Disney Cruise Line’s Silver Anniversary at Sea, and we aren’t done yet! This month marks the first time Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island paradise in The Bahamas welcomed guests twenty-five years ago. Time really does fly when you are having fun in the sun.

Over the years, families have made countless magical memories together from riding bikes and completing the Castaway Cay 5K, to snorkeling and spending time together on Castaway Family Beach. Sandcastles, anyone? I am thrilled to share exciting news for some of our Castaway Club members.

In honor of the families who have sailed 50 or more times with Disney Cruise Line, a commemorative display will be added to Disney Castaway Cay this fall. This will recognize the legacy and heart of the Castaway Club, our members. The display will take residence near the island post office with a colorful fence that features the names of these families. Check out the artist rendering! I know I can’t wait to see it in person.

Eligible Castaway Club members will have the opportunity to select one of the beautiful icons below to accompany their family’s name on the display. Here’s a sneak peek of the options!

Castaway Club is Disney Cruise Line’s way of recognizing guests who have sailed.

Stay tuned for more on the installation! Details will be coming soon to each eligible family who has already reached this milestone. In the meantime, what is your favorite Disney Cruise Line memory? Let us know in the comments below.

 FAQs

  • I began cruising from an early age and earned my sea legs as a young Prince chasing the horizon. While some cruise lines didn't necessarily recognize loyalty for younger passengers who weren't adults, Disney Cruise Line certainly did!

You'll be happy to hear that your Castaway Club benefits begin after completing your first cruise, no matter what age you are. I remember being in Disney's Oceaneer Club and meeting kids who had already attained Platinum status! It's funny looking back and remembering how aware the kids were that there were different colors for Key to the World Cards or lanyards but not really comprehending what it all meant.

There are two things to be aware of in our experience with younger Castaway Club members:

If they're staying in a stateroom among guests with varying membership levels, then the benefits that apply to their voyage will be based on the highest membership level attained within that stateroom.

Though they may be entitled to certain perks, some age requirements may still apply - such as complimentary dinner at Palo.

  • As a Pearl Castaway Club Member, I know you appreciate the attention to detail and personalized service you receive with Disney Cruise Line. Congratulations on making it to this magical milestone!

I’m happy to share that Pearl and Platinum Members are entitled to choose among the following treats (one per stateroom): sparkling wine, chocolate truffle box, or fruit basket. Call Room Service, and they will drop off your delicious selection. On my last cruise, I selected the truffles. They were divine! Keep in mind that selections may vary, but these were the options for me last month.

John, don’t forget to take advantage of the additional Pearl onboard benefits, like complimentary brunch or dinner at Palo and the Unlimited Digital Photo Package. I love spending sea days dining at Palo. If you’re sailing on the Disney Wish, I recommend stopping by The Rose before your Palo Steakhouse reservation. The intimate setting with sweeping ocean views makes it the perfect place to sample some high-end wines and liquors. If you want to save room for dinner and skip the drink, The Rose is a lovely place to sit and relax before your reservation.
